Brett Favre to retire

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports the Packers QB legend is set to retire and has already informed the team of his decision to do so.
Questions of Favre’s retirement have been circling for the past few offseasons including 2006 where it seemingly took him forever to decide on his future.
Favre seemed to find the [...]

Jets snare a couple of free agents.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported thatthe Jets have signed former Lions tackle Damian Woody to a 5-year $25.5 million deal with $11 million in guarantees. Schefter also reports that the team signed former Cardinals End/Linebacker Calvin Pace to a $42 million 6-year contract. According to Schefter, $22 million of that is guaranteed.

Randy Moss re-signs with New England

According to ProFootballTalk it is a 3-year $27 million contract.
There was not an active free agent market for Moss’ services even though he set the all-time single season touchdown record in 2007. Most teams likely feared that an offer made to Moss would be shopped to New England for a better one.

Not so fast on Crumpler

His agent, James Williams, tells TitansRadio.com that he has not signed nor agreed to anything though the sides have talked.

According to Michael Smith of ESPN.com, Turner will make $34.5 million over 6 years with the Falcons with $15 million guaranteed.
Michael Turner, formerly of the Chargers, was considered the best running back on the free agent market and he got paid like it.

Ronald Curry and a whole bunch of not much else

The Raiders have a receiver problem. The problem is they don’t have much at receiver. They lost out on Bernard Berrian and Donte Stallworth, then again as Jerry McDonald pointed out it probably wasn’t worth the money it would’ve taken them to get one of them.
The free agent market is lacking at the position. Randy [...]

Catching up on Free Agency

A few things happened while I was covering UFC.
Firstly, Linebacker Lance Briggs is going back to the Bears. This is the same Briggs who said last offseason he’d never play for the team again.
The Chiefs signed former Falcons Linebacker Demorrio Williams to a contract.
Safety Sammy Knight is going to visit the Giants.

It has been a busy afternoon.

The Vikings signed WR Bernard Berrian to a 6-year contract
The browns nabbed Receiver Donte Stallworth
The Jets got a deal done with former Steeler Alan Faneca

The Raiders search for a Wide Receiver marches on fruitlessly. Stallworth had been rumored to be making a visit according to the Boston Globe.

Oakland Raiders notes

Jerry McDonald one of my favorite writers mentions the fact that the Raiders will be hosting Ebenezer Ekuban and Donte Stallworth for free agent visits.
I’ll let you know if anything develops. Remember to check out all of the NFL Free Agency updates Here .
I’ll update as much as I can until starting live coverage of [...]
